Mark Rennick
Senior sports physio
BSc. (Physiotherapy) | NASM (Sports optimisation)
I discovered physiotherapy after years of getting patched up as a sporty teenager playing any sports I could get my hands on! I loved how focused hands-on care plus the right exercise plan got me back to the things I actually wanted to be doing, faster and stronger. That combination - practical treatment plus performance-focused rehab - is still what I do best.
In a nutshell I love…
SPORTS & RACING
Competing and coaching across triathlons, Gaelic football, running (including ultras) and CrossFit. I’m happiest with a race or game in the calendar.
OUTDOORS
Camping and exploring WA’s beaches and bush - anywhere with a trail, a tide or a tent.
FIELD SPORTS
AFL, GAA & Rugby are my special interests, but I’ll really watch anything with a ball and some goalposts!
COFFEE & COMMUNITY
If there’s coffee & food at a small local event - I’m usually there.
Background
Originally from Ireland, I studied physiotherapy at UCD (graduated 2018). I spent four years living and working in New Zealand before relocating to Western Australia three years ago. Playing Gaelic football in Ireland sparked my interest in high-performance care and structured return-to-play planning, and combined with time working in New Zealand and living in WA, it shapes how I approach injury care and performance.
Professionally
I’m the senior sports physiotherapist at our clinic and bring a wealth of international experience in musculoskeletal and sports physiotherapy. I’m certified through NASM in Performance Enhancement (a strength & conditioning-aligned qualification) and have completed extensive professional development in manual therapy, running technique analysis, and running-related injuries.
I currently coach, train and compete in CrossFit, but I grew up playing Gaelic football at a high level in Ireland. I’ve competed at national championships in cross-country running, and more recently, I’ve tried my hand at longer distance events such as the Busselton Half-Ironman and Transcend Ultra in Perth Hills.
Combining firsthand knowledge of training and injury with my clinical experience and extra study, I’m well placed to help you move from injury back to full training or competing.
My approach
I use the full physio toolkit - from massage and dry needling to progressive exercise rehabilitation. I always consider the whole person. That means we’ll also look at sleep, nutrition and mental health as part of your recovery and performance plan.
